Alice and the World We Live In at the Centaur Theatre written by Alexandria Haber, directed by Eda Holmes, Dramaturg Micheline Chevrier and starring Jane Wheeler & Daniel Brochu
Alexandria Haber is an award-winning Montreal playwright. Her plays have been produced across Canada and have graced Montreal's stages at the Centaur Theatre, the Montreal Fringe Festival, and Imago Theatre. She started writing Alice and the World We Live In because she couldn't stop thinking about a woman standing on the side of a mountain, halfway between "Here and There", paralyzed by fear.
Haber is an acrophobic so the image of a treacherous passage on a steep mountainside presented the perfect setting for her story. It's one which plays out against the terrifying prospects of random violence in the world we live in now and the the surreal reality of losing the ones we love in a fatal instance.
Of course, the play is a metaphor for the journey through life, one every person must take, regardless of the terrors both real and imaginary along the way. Ultimately, it is a story about the role that hope, love, and faith play in guiding us on our journeys.
A local cast and creative team make Alice and the World We Live In a truly authentic Montreal artistic endeavor.
