Choir Boy at the Centaur Theatre

By Deborah Rankin

This is the 50th Anniversary of the Centaur Theatre Montreal's oldest English-speaking theatre. The season opens with Choir Boy written by Tarell Alvin McCraney and directed by Montreal's own Mike Payette. This is a musical about Black culture, what it means to be a man, and spirituality. At once thoughtful and entertaining Choir Boy bridges the gap between the civil rights movement of the past and young black men today struggling to find their place in a new and changed America.
